A HUGE thank you to everyone who came along to our National Play Day event at Holgate Park on Wednesday 5th August 2026!

Despite the weather doing its best to put a dampener on things, it certainly didn’t stop the children having a good time!

The paths around the park were transformed into a riot of colour, with children getting creative and showing us exactly what “Play Here, There, Everywhere” is all about. Because play doesn’t need expensive equipment or fancy facilities — sometimes all you need is a path, some chalk, a bit of imagination and the freedom to have fun!

A massive thank you to Andy from AC Leisure for bringing along the bouncy castle. And thanks to funding from Playful Wigan & Leigh, it was completely FREE for everyone to enjoy!

And of course, we couldn’t let everyone go home without a little treat!  A big thank you to Ramzy from NorthWest Whippy for paying us a visit and keeping everyone smiling.

Most importantly, thank you to all the children, parents, grandparents and families who came along and made Holgate Park such a brilliant place to be today. You really are a hardy bunch!
